We had a great time hosting our fourth annual Etsy Craft Party - Seattle Edition. It's always such an inspiring day of people coming together and making amazing things. For those of you who couldn't attend, we wanted to highlight some of the projects from our 2016 party in a series of blog posts.
Some back story: I was checking Weather Kitty about every 15 minutes for about a week before the party. And yes, I get my weather information from an app that shows you pictures of cats AND tells you what the weather is going to be like. Given the choice - why would you get your weather any other way? Anyway - Weather Kitty had terrible things to say about the upcoming day. We're used to rain in Seattle - and it's pretty much rained at our Etsy Craft Party most years so far - so this wasn't huge news. This seemed worse than normal. A 90% chance of thunderstorms and heavy rain. Boo. We take over part of the block on Western Avenue and part of it is covered - and we have tents - so all would not be lost if the weather was terrible but it might make paper crafts a bust.
Our neighbors at JarrBar agreed to let us use their space for our greeting card embellishment project. Phew! Thanks neighbors!
Our other new neighbors choukette opened up just a few days before the Etsy Craft Party. They have fancy elcairs. Go there. Eat eclairs.
Greeting card embellishment is a really easy and fun craft project. Plus, you can use your card right away to mail to a deserving friend! Strathmore was kind enough to donate greeting cards of two types for our party: watercolor cards and coal black cards. The coal black cards pair perfectly with the Soufflé® pens from Sakura of America. Sakura was kind enough to donate pens for our party last year as well and I fell hard for the Soufflé® series. When you first use the pens, they look milky and weird - but just wait 20-30 seconds and it turns into the most vibrant amazing color. Swoon.
The kind folks at our favorite local art supply store, Artist & Craftsman Supply hooked us up with a ton of watercolor supplies that were perfect for card making. Thank you! Thank you! And thanks for being the coolest art supply store in Seattle - hands down! Washi tape is essential for embellishing things so we were also delighted that Scotch Products sent us a big box for our guests to gussie up their cards. A perfect match!
