Okay, okay. We know - they're rats - not bunnies. That's okay. Any fuzzy, furry thing that we end up helping through Bunny Party! counts.
Meet Zena and her two foster rats. Zena came to Bunny Party! and learned that you can foster all kinds of animals - including rats. We forced her to answer a few of the inevitable questions that come up when someone near and dear to you decides to foster rats:
You don't have to love Valentine's Day. You can hate it. It's okay. Whether tongue in cheek - or dead serious, there's no need to be all lovey-dovey.
At Ugly Baby and La Ru, we have the perfect gifts for Valentine's haters. And for under $15. A print of some cute animals fighting? Art to hang in your shower that tells the world your thoughts on marriage? Yes. Yes. Yes. Oh, yes.
It might be us. (hang in there until minute 1:28 to be sure)
Okay, okay. I'll ruin the surprise. IT IS US! A big thanks to the Market for including our new, little shop in their latest promotional video.
It was fun to make. We spent many hours outside in front of the shop waiting for the street to be quiet enough to film. Semi trucks, commuter traffic, puppies, loading and unloading -- we finally finished up indoors.
It's horrifying to hear your own voice played back to you.... but we'll try to get over it. EEEEeeeek!
My Sweets,
This month we are highlighting some artists who will be peddling their wares at the EtsyRAIN Handmade Holiday show Friday, 11/24 and Saturday, 11/25.
I've had a craft crush on Jenny Hart for years. Everyone has. She is one of the revolutionaries leading this whole indie craft business explosion that has been going on for the past ten years. While learning how to embroider she was disappointed with the patterns available and decided to develop her own line. Years later, she has over 50 pattern sets, tools, printed and blank textiles, several books and now... HER OWN LINE OF FLOSS.
A big, hearty, meaty thank you to everyone who came to our grand opening party. We could never have anticipated that response and we're totally overwhelmed (in a great way). Also, a big thank you to all of the local businesses who donated items for our giveaways. Eight lucky people won a big package of stuff from:
This thing is shaping up nicely. We have a painted staircase. We have a new, beautiful ceiling color. The upstairs has three coats of bright yellow on one wall and one coat of gray on the other three. Shelves for prints have been installed in the retail space and Lauren Magic Erasered all the tiles. She also painted some cute characters for the front window so people can continue to wonder what the heck we're doing in here.
Translation: IT'S STARTING TO LOOK LIKE A REAL STORE.
Hey folks,
This was kind of cool. Etsy interviewed Rosalie about how she went about quitting her day job and setting out on her own to the terrifying world of selling indie crafts and building freelance websites -- and soon to be: Retail shop ownership.
Geez! Who knew getting a sign for our store would be so complicated! More design reviews, permits, approvals from the market and bids from signage companies. In the end our 12 foot x 30 inch sign will be amazing (and expensive)!
